Abstract

This study aims to gain an in-depth and holistic understanding of the feelings, hopes, and potential of a child with speech impairment through a single-case study of a 4th-grade student at SDN Cijawa, Serang City. Children with speech disorders often face complex barriers in verbal communication, which limit their capacity to express emotions, engage in meaningful social interactions, and fully explore their academic and creative potential. Utilizing a qualitative descriptive approach and a case study method, data were gathered through in-depth interviews and participatory observations involving the child and key figures in her environment. The findings indicate that while the child frequently feels excluded and misunderstood, she retains strong hopes of being accepted, appreciated, and recognized for her abilities in drawing, storytelling, and mathematics. The presence of social support from peers, teachers fluent in sign language, and family members significantly enhances her emotional resilience and learning motivation. This study underscores the crucial role of inclusive educational practices and empathetic communication in supporting the holistic development of children with speech impairments.
