KEMAMPUAN SISWA KELAS X MAN INOVASI ACEH BARAT DAYA MENENTUKAN MAJAS DALAM PUISI

Abstract

This study aims to describe the ability of class X students of MAN Inovasi Aceh Barat Daya to identify figures of speech in poetry. This study uses a quantitative approach with a descriptive method. The population of this study was all 198 class X students, with a sample of 30 students selected randomly. The data collection instrument was a figure of speech identification test on three poems that had been selected by the researcher. The data were analyzed quantitatively descriptively through score calculation, conversion to a 100 scale, and classification of results based on the standards of the Ministry of National Education (2006). The results showed that students' ability to identify figures of speech is still relatively low. Based on the test data, 66.7% of students were in the very poor category, 33.3% were in the poor category, and there were no students in the sufficient, good, or very good categories. These results indicate that the majority of students have difficulty in recognizing and determining the types of figures of speech in poetry. Therefore, a more effective learning strategy is needed so that students are able to identify figures of speech in literary works, especially poetry.
